The best feedback from customers 134 of 135 people found this review helpful. A strong performance in OS X Tiger, Leopard and Windows XP by W. Williamson, I am an amateur photographer and professional software engineer. I bought this printer as a general use as an inexpensive photo printer. My home network of five computers running Windows XP and Mac OS X computer (my). I connected the printer to my network using the built-in Ethernet port. All tests are performed online and never had a USB port. The printer does everything it advertises and does it well. I tried to print, scan and card reader functionality to OS X Tiger, OS X Leopard, Windows XP and the printer has worked flawlessly, regardless of operating system you use. Just make sure to download and install the latest and greatest for the specific operating system used. I also tried to directly scan using Photoshop CS3 on OS X Leopard and everything worked perfectly, one of the reasons I bought the MP970 is the low-cost photo printing. I also own an Epson R2400 is a semi-professional dedicated photo printer. The R2400 is expensive to buy and expensive to run. I was wondering how MP970 photo quality would be similar to the R2400, so I compared photos printed directly on the Canon MP970 to the same photos printed on Epson R2400. Canon MP970 prints nice photos, but it's just not the same quality images as R2400 produce. I printed pictures from Photoshop in a color managed environment using Ilford Smooth Pearl paper and compared the R2400 to the MP970. Canon MP970 did very well, but the Epson R2400 was definitely the winner - and that was the expected result. Epson had better highlights, better shadows and more neutral tones middle. Despite this, the MP970 produced very respectable print that would be acceptable to all but the most demanding applications The result is that if you're really serious about a good picture, not the printer for you. If you want a low cost per print production of all respect, this printer is definitely for you. I think the Canon MP970 met or exceeded my expectations for a photo quality printer at low cost. And as an added bonus, the MP970 is much cheaper to operate my R2400, because it uses less ink. As an example of how to use it a lot more profitable to print 25 Christmas cards on my MP970 to print than it is the same 25 cards on the R2400. I only gave 4 stars because the printer goes off every 2 to 4 days for no reason. Canon technical support confirmed that the printer must be turned off and sent me a new printer warranty replacement. Unfortunately, the printer will substitute for no reason I've tried different outlets in my office and it does not solve the problem. No other devices in my power went out of office. The examination was here for a while now, and several people posted comments and said their printer MP970 also intermittent. Update on the intermittent power off problem: After about nine months of operation, I landed the printer from my desktop to my son's room (for reasons). For unknown reasons, the printer stops off at times, having moved to the room of my son. The printer was in my son's room for about 3 months now, and it has not even died. Weird. I had the printer for about a year and I've had no problems noted with the exception of the question of power. This makes the printer: - Duplex printing - Ethernet Connectivity - USB Connection - Start an exploration of the printer or computer - scan disk on your computer, scan to email, scan to PDF - Print - Memory Card Reader the camera to access the cards through the network or USB - Scanner is compatible with Photoshop CS3 on Mac OS X - Compatible with the operating system.
