I scanned only a handful of color images, and they were also going well. Some experience I had with the scanner: - smaller images end up getting a better final solution - the quality is very good for pictures but only average for text, for example, newspaper articles is not good enough to scan, for you to read small text - aout 30 pictures I could scan in one hour - scan multiple images are usually simple: You do not need a large picture of the crop each photo scanning software figures out of the picture. However, sometimes the image border detection messes things and the scanner detects a smaller picture than it was in the scanner and forces you to search for some old Polaroid pictures were scanned image clearer and brighter than the POLAROID brought the image into an amazing way. 135 of 143 people found the following review helpful. I'll save time ... By tomato jersey I bought this scanner mainly because of the reviews that said the ability to save things in PDF format. Well, it's easy once you find out - but it took me over 90 minutes! It comes with different types of software and one of them will be saved in PDF format. It's the CanoScan Toolbox. Neither ArcSoft PhotoStudio and ScanSoft OmniPage software. Quick Start Guide suggests trying your first scan using the ArcSoft software. I tried a small table of plant names. It scans very slow and the results were unreadable. I tried again with a higher DPI. When I tried to save the file, I found a PDF option in the dropdown box and even try to close a window in the program had provided. So I tried the software OmniPage, as it was designed for text. It was much clearer, but the process was still slow, because I asked to confirm the spelling of the name of almost all plants. Again, there is no option in the dropdown box to save in PDF format. Finally, in desperation, I clicked on CanoScan Toolbox, where a large button marked PDF. He had a two-page document scanned and saved, wonderfully readable, in a minute. Why the hell not the Quick Start Guide suggest starting with this is the easiest and fastest? I think I'll be very happy with the scanner, but I'm deducting a star for the lack of documentation. 48 of 48 people found this review helpful. Worth the price of Flash Gordon MD hp5470C power on my last bit "dusty, and this scanner does not cost much more power than HP, is much more portable. I read the previous reviews and was prepared for noise and low speeds. I was pleasantly surprised. Noise WRT, the scanner makes a hissing sound when displaying large mechanical scan in 150 dpi. 300 DPI or more, is much quieter. I measured the sound by about a foot away and is about 56 dB (A weighted) . is not strong. WRT speed, a whole page is about 15 seconds at 300 dpi in color. I tried to scan a dollar bill of 1200 DPI to get a sense of resolution - 1200 dpi scan took about a minute and a half, just bill . acuity was excellent. I was able to enlarge the incision on the bill, with very nice results. color was good and the sharpness was fine. for scanning text, I tried OCR'ing a page of instructions that were written in lowercase ( less than 6pt) type. ScanSoft OmniPage include a 100% accuracy, the three keys to get to the front of the scanner was easy to configure and works very well. a high quality copy of a color photograph was very good when it directly on my HP inkjet printing. The form factor is great. that's about as thick as my hand is about 14 4.3 "x 10 1 / 4". Weight is very light. It would be very easy to go into a.
