Client more useful on 187 of 191 people found this review helpful. A great little scanner of Stoney SUMMARY With some reservations, this is a great little scanner. The best part is that it actually fits in my Targus computer case with my laptop. It weighs only 2-3 PD, and runs from USB power --- no converter brick to carry around. The scans are sharp and fast. The automatic settings work very well for almost all typical original (old photos, business letters, receipts, etc..) Despite some shortcomings, the price and portability make this an extraordinary range of choice for the scanner to scan books --- because the books to be acquired often rumored in libraries or archives. WEAKNESSES Unfortunately, the special design of this scanner (and all other LED-based scanners) is that (unlike most desktop scanners fat) is not possible to scan 3D objects. Any part of your document or image is not in contact with the absolute Patten glass becomes very blurry. The proposed framework raises the edges of the original Patten does not fit the glass, making the edges of images to be blurred, this is particularly a problem when scanning books. Nor can simply press harder --- that surrounds the glass, causing blurred vision in the other parts of the hand, and can also damage the scanning mechanism. However, these problems can be solved using the strategies discussed below. The cover is not removable, which means you can be unlucky if you need to scan part of a large object. The program is diverse, confusing and difficult to configure their best. Warning, I have used at least three brands of scanner software, none of which were well designed. From strangely named "MP Navigator" I suggest checking the box "Use the scanner driver" to open the "Advanced Settings" - or better yet, scan your graphics (image editing) software. However, although the plot is a problem, is smaller (1 / 16 ") and narrow (3 / 8") than most other scanners, etc., etc. scan books is a minor problem with most scanners. The choice of models and hardware "Advanced Settings" part of the exploration program LiDE all models (at least on models 90 to 210) appears to be identical. The main differences between the models is as follows: 1) improving the self-scan functions, and 2) the rated speed of operation (which apparently is controlled by software). Despite the statistics cited, there is little practical difference between the models of scanning speed. The "slower" models are quieter, and I suspect it is more reliable. Since I only use the "Advanced Settings" (not the automatic configuration), the 110 is my preference, no matter the price. Canon CanoScan LiDE110 Color Image Scanner (4507B002) The 210 best for children and other users who will never learn to use the "Advanced Settings" because it is a superior automatic scanning the 210 bits can be faster when scanning small originals requirements and / or low resolution. Canon CanoScan LiDE210 Color Image Scanner (4508B002) If you plan to scan books and if you do not plan to carry the scanner around a lot, you might consider a Canon LiDE 700th It has two major advantages. The right edge is actually flush with the glass surface (hurrah! !)--- but still too large a margin. The lid opens to 180 degrees so you can scan parts of a large object - but there is still a "border problem" for the other three edges. Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F Color Image Scanner (3297B002) scanning books, it is easy books that have at least ½ "of the margin between the print and scan of the spine. Insert the right side of the scanner to the edge of a table so the book is open to 90 degrees when the scanner instead of a moderate weight on the original (like a 1 "thick book) placed. If you press with your fingers, press the edges of the glass surface (or better yet, in the corners), not the middle. When you enter is not quite
