The same goes for Epson. I wanted to explore the images from time to time and archive photos, maybe old, big picture perspective was important. Canon, known for a digital camera has the same quality scanners. Why is this in 3170? That's half the price, smaller (about 1 / 3 high), and looks very good. It meets about four 4x6 photos on the scanner, use the Multi-scan at 600 dpi and works well. Sometimes, however, think that the automatic cuts would be better. It took all of 5 minutes to set up and use. You do not need an adapter, as it uses USB for power. It's fast and quiet. I've done over 600 scans so far. Works like a charm. It's so fast, that can scan 75 to 100 frames per hour! 51 of 51 people found this review helpful. A "best" entry level scanner, copier to replace almost the shock writer, I am a private user without Cannon connector. This is a great product that I hope lasts for years. The scanner and the software is a tremendous value for money. Although not a fully developed professional scanner that is good for what it was: the data to your computer quickly, easily and inexpensively, while replaced by anything for a copy machine and do some graphic work. The included software makes Toobox CanoScan scanner do simple functions with ease. Timing & Copy Quality: I love the copy directly to the printer function. You can shrink and expand by 25% to 400% or custom% size. The 75-300 DPI setting works well, but 600 dpi copy function freezes my system is too slow and the files are too big for my taste anyway - a transition to HP printing language driver from HP postscript driver on my HP4500 color laser seems to have fixed this problem. Copy is the fastest non-critical applications to quickly set 150 dpi in order, if the text is a bit "blocked" or "bold" look with fat edges 300 dpi delivers a copy of more normal looking. To "copy" a 150-dpi color scanner (scan color looks better, even for black and white in my experience) takes about 15 seconds from start to fall on my printer spooler. A 300 dpi takes about 30 seconds. Reasonable period of time in relation to copiers cheaper at home than I used to, but not extremely fast. You need some time to add your printer to the total time to get to make a copy. The quality of the copy is almost a copy machine regularly, but not quite, unless maybe you spend time fine-tuning. There is a tendency, a bit of gray instead of white margin with 150dpi print copy appears to leave 300 dpi. It could also be due to a small bulb of verses in this little scanner copier bulbs in more normal. Like I said, with some modifications to software and at 300 dpi, usually it goes away, but I'll just copy automatically, without corrections, a gun buy their own copy, if that's what you need, and they have told me to be better than other brands in this period of "to sell, before it slows down the" trash Office Products, which sells office is currently in mass stores. Filesize: Scan-to "copy" function has a jpg file, which is quite large, and can print slowly on some systems. I wish I could adjust the jpg quality to my requests in speed and quality. 150 dpi color gets a decent, quick scan to print a quick copy function and size of approximately 5-6 MEG 300 dpi is half as fast (makes sense) and much larger than jpg (20-24 MEG). The 24 MEG is a print slower, even from my HP 4500 color laser postscript. The scan-to "file" (PDF) files less can make only 10% of the size of jpgs from "copy" function in my experience. PDF is more effective. The scan to "email" function uses a jpg file jpg compressed version, making a good post image bootable and allows you to limit
