Epson Perfection 1250 Photo Flatbed Scanner
We all strive for perfection, but it's always just out of reach. That's not the case with the Epson Perfection 1250 Photo scanner. The Perfection 1250 Photo model includes a 35mm slide adapter unit for scanning negatives and slides. Compatible with both PCs and Macs, the Epson also has a combination of hardware extras and useful software to handle all of the scanning tasks you throw at it.The 4-by-5-inch slide adapter comes with two film holders to block extraneous light and keep the media square on the glass. With 1,200dpi optical resolution and 48-bit color, the Perfection captures every detail in photos, slides, and photo negatives. And one-touch buttons let you use the scanner like a copier, attach photos to e-mail, or upload images to the Web. Epson provides two software interfaces for the scanner: a simple interface for beginners and an advanced interface for power users. The Epson Smart Panel includes all the functions of the one-touch buttons, as well as timesaving functions such as Scan To OCR, Scan To Application, and Scan To File. The advanced interface gives experienced users more control over scanning. With it, you can quickly preview images and change options such as resolution, pixel depth, gamma, and exposure.

With outstanding precision and a small footprint, the Epson Perfection 1250 Photo provides excellent value for the serious imaging hobbyist. Connecting to both Macintosh and PC systems via a USB hub, setup takes just a few moments, so you'll be loading those photos on the Web in no time. Plus, the 1250 Photo comes with a 35mm slide adapter, so it makes a great accessory for your digital darkroom. Four one-touch buttons allow you to quickly copy, scan, print, or e-mail your images. The rich 48-bit color and high 1,200 x 2,400 dpi resolution that are usually found in higher-end scanners keep your photos, negatives, and slides looking their best. The built-in zoom feature provides a range of 50 to 200 percent, supplying plenty of options for enlarging or cropping your final prints. A cold cathode ray lamp is used as the light source, a powerful and economical choice that combines plenty of light with long-lasting efficiency. Maximum scan size is 8.5 x 11 inches, large enough for office documents as well as your family photos. Included in the box are the slide adapter and a USB cable and a software bundle that includes Epson TWAIN and several image editing and processing programs. Epson provides a one-year warranty that covers parts and labor. The easy-to-use Epson Perfection 1250 Photo offers 1,200 x 2,400 dpi resolution and 48-bit color for incredible clarity and detail. With convenient USB connectivity, an automated four-button interface, and a 35mm slide adapter unit, this versatile performer is ideal for scanning photos, text, graphics, negatives, or slides for spectacular prints and enlargements.

Dust, dust, dust from JoeSchmoe With all the talk about the quality of the Epson scanners, I was disappointed with the lack of quality that came from me. In short, there was dust under the glass in the scanner where it is unreachable, I can see with the visible eye and that is magnified in the scanned images. Image quality was excellent, except that all dust spots on the photos. As consumers have complained about a similar dust problem with previous Epson scanners, I thought it would fix it with this new model, but they did not. In fact, quality does not seem to have improved - there's even a fingerprint on the underside of the glass. I send it back here and get a Canon or HP instead. 35 of 36 people found the following review helpful. A little disappointed, L. Manstrom I liked the excellent quality of my Epson printers and wanted to give an opportunity for the scanner with the price, you can not beat the picture quality or the fact that it includes an adapter 35 mm film. But I have a couple of issues that are serious enough for me to write about.1) powder. There was enough dust on the glass of the first unit I received to ensure that they share the same. Now I have the second unit, there is still powder (Epson quality control is lacking), but not both. It is not entirely clear when scanning at 72 dpi (for uploading to the web) but it is * very * noticeable on the screen when scanning at 300 dpi or higher for printing. Fortunately, hardly noticeable when printed. I have not decided if that's enough for me to send again.2) the Smart Panel software interface appears randomly and is very annoying. Even though I do not have anything scanned from the beginning, has just been opened for any reason. The closing is not good, it will open again. Minimize it is not good, it's always refreshing Epson referred me to their third party software vendors, NewSoft, where I am following in their FAQ: "ESP2-0013 Why is the Smart Panel interface opens a coincidence that the problem was due to scanner? driver recognizes the wrong hardware code to launch Smart Panel. Our development team on the topic of work. Visit NewSoft website for further release notice, only if it includes a new patch for this problem. "Great, no end in sight. If not for these two major errors that should be easily fixed with a little quality control would be an incredibly wonderful device price. 32 of 33 people found the following review helpful. Good performance for the money from a customer, I've always preferred the Epson scanner. At work we have used the top of the line, so if I need a housing unit, I thought it would fill the bill. So far I am very happy with it. It is lighter weight and slower than the professional models I've used, but also cheaper! Set up was easy and worked from the moment I am satisfied with the performance and quality of analysis, all the tests I've done so far is very good. Slides adapter works well, too complicated to convert a value from a tray of slides quickly, but the quality is surprisingly good. The software is good, but have switched to manual mode and TWAIN scanning everything in Photoshop. This is a keeper - After living with him for a while, I have uploaded my rating of 4-5 stars.
